Its called tethered shooting, you either need a long cable or a wireless transmitter. wireless tranmitters are not cheap.
I'm a wee bit confused holderbeam. 'Equipment', well you've kinda got all the bits already named, apart from some sw to run it.
Are you talking about terminology per-chance; Tethering/ tethered/ etc?

It's called software and it should come boxed with your camera.
Load the disk on your pc and connect your camera (possibly via usb cable supplied with the camera) adjust the settings and away you go!
It's called tethered shooting.
Any more questions just ask.

Or wireless if you own certain Canon or Nikon cameras - in the event of Canon - they do the WFT-E3 for the 40d/50d - and other models for others in the range. This allows you to photograph and transmit straight to laptop - however they are not cheap.
There are also a new range of Eye-fi cards coming into the UK which are considerably cheaper - but not quite the same range or transmission speeds :)

ooo kl well now i know what it is called im sure i can work out how to do it on my sony a200 (ahh the power of google) thanks people
saw this at twickenham on Saturday - were in the lower stand, north end............ 8 rows from the front - at times, I was more interested in what the pro togs were doing.......... one had some very serious kit............ couldnt make it out, but guessing canon body by the big grey L Lens........... and a Macbook Air --- all sorts of bolt ons to the camera and no hint of leads.............. then when the action was other end, was on the Macbook, I assume editing, checking and emailing, as had a vodafone dongle into a USB port........
As for the rubgy???....... we were ****.
For Canon it's called EOS viewer.

it saves onto the memory card but displays all the photos taken on the tv so basically it is like an external display

Not that I have a 'professional looking studio' but I'm pretty sure the majority wouldn't display the shots to the client as they shoot them.

Hold on. You are going to be shooting naked models, and quite literally, you will be "putting on a show" for the friends of said model, in real time? :D
