Look at tghe screen shot below. Just above the ok button it shows you the size of the picture before and an extimated after the file is compressed for the web.
HOW MUCH???

yep. Thats what I get when I save the raw from it as a tif. But it still had 2 layers in it and needs flattening. So the real image is half of that.
To be honest this is pretty normal and Photoshop or other resizing programs would do the same. This is too small even for a web sized image. 448px x 336px is a very small file suitable for not very much. It's only slightly larger than a thumbnail.
Rezise your image to a pixel size of 800 pixels on the longest edge and aim for as much compression as looks good. A file size of around 80-100k is good for email/web posting.
