Just putting this out there to see if anyone(other than myself) would like to see a "Review Section". I'm not just talking about the nice high end stuff, but also include the inexpensive $100 digicam & what not for those just getting started. If everyone wrote up a review for a particular camera they own, giving its pros & cons & some minor technical info, I bet we'd have a nice array of hardware for folks to browse through to aid in their search for gear.

Anyway... just a thought.

I'm not sure on that one. I tend to use these sites as their reviews tend to be very objective and exhaustive,

Perhaps we should have links to them though?

As CT has stated the two sites above specialise in reviews and have done so for many years, out of the two I much prefer steves-digicams.

I doubt very much if we, as amateurs would have the time or experience to re-create reviews of our equipment to that level but would welcome any personal “insights” into any equipment you own and feel like reviewing. We already have a “Tutorials, links and reviews” section on the forums where they can be dropped into and if they are of an exceptionally high standard we would also consider them for the review section on the main site.

Steve I think it's exactly us 'as amateurs' that should be reviewing the kit we buy. Our long term real world experience with lenses, cameras and the rest is far better than some guy who has the use of it for a day and has to give it back.

As I have said the review section of the forum is wide open to ALL members so if you fancy writing a review on anything we are very happy to have it dropped into there for all to see. We will not edit or censor your opinions on anything inn there as long as it is objective and not an all out unwarranted attack on a product. If it’s a bad product and you can back up your views with reasonable arguments as to why then that is great.

From there we will consider each review, and if suitable for the main site we will ask permission to use it. We are happy to then copy and format it for display.

I agree that personal hands on reviews are often much more valid for the average user and we can gain much more real world, useful information from those, that’s partly why I wrote so much about my “upgrade experience” when I changed from the 10D to 20D.
