Just ordered my first piece of L glass, a 17-40mm f4 Wide Angle.

I am very excited, don't know if the store dispatch on saturdays but don't know if there is any chance of it coming monday yet! I hope it does plan to go manchester later that night taking photos anyway of the german market.

Am I right to be excited?

Anybody else got experience with this lens. I have used the 16-35mm 2.8 which is a really great lens.

You'd not be a normal TP user if you were not excited by new glass :D

I remember buying my first L(70-200 F4), is a great feeling, but a slippery slope from there on in ;)

slippery slope in the way you always want more? I have got a 24-105mm planned for late january! Its killing me then after that I guess its the sigma 70-200 2.8 which I found a really great lens for weddings in the church.

Yep cost, starts to get expensive as you go up the focal length.

The 17-40 is a fine lens, it was my first L too... got some fantastic shots with it.....but the others are right 'once you start down the L path forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.' :D
