View Full Version : Polarizer for wide angle - tips please
Folks, couldn't find the answer on a thread search so hope you can help........I want to buy a new circ polarizer for my 17-55 77mm nikon lens and wondered if anyone has used hoya super hmc or B W 77mm Kaesemann MRC.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I have a Hoya super HMC 77mm for my Canon 17-40L. I've only used it a few times but I'm impressed with it, definitely worth the money. Heres an example shot. Bear in mind that is was my first attempt with the polarizer!

Can't say I have any problems with it. I haven't noticed any degradation in imaghe quality or anything.

Speaking of polarizers, has anyone used the Canon one, and is it any good?
I use a B+W 77mm Slim MRC KSM CP......can't fault it apart from the price
Thanks for the tips, I have seen the BW on ebay for under £75 and was tempted to buy based on other peoples (positive) experience of buying from Hong Kong give it's around half the UK price of most places.
I use a 67mm Marumi DHG CPL and its fantastic. Ordered a 52mm filter of the same type for my 50mm f1.8. They are quite expensive though.

Well, they are expensive in the shops :)
Hoya HMC Super Pro 1. (same as HMC super, i think but its a lil thinner). no problems.
If you're taking a very wide shot, look out for the polarising effect (often for skies) to make sure it has 'worked' for the entire image from left to right.
