This isn’t a reprocessing of this old shot from last year (http://www.vanilladays.com/gallery/2006/04/beetham-tower-liverpool/). I was out yesterday for a walk around Liverpool as it was a nice sunny day. I really like the shot from last year but I want to make it better, or at least I should try and make it better. I was out just in time to add a bit of lens flare to this shot. Ideally I’d love to get a shot with a really nice sunset sky in the circle.

Handheld HDR from 3 RAW’s // Camera: Canon 30D // ISO: 100 // Shutter Speed: 1/160 // Aperture: f4.0 // Focal Length: 10mm // Sigma 10-20

That's very very nice. Again I wouldn't have spotted the HDR process if you hadn't mentioned it.

When you say handheld, 3 raws. Is that keep the camera as still as poss, line up the shots in the HDR stage and crop to neaten?

5fps handheld. So yeah, take the pictures as quick as possible to minimise camera shake and then Photomatix lines them up nicely.

Never tried a hand held HDR, how do you manage to keep so still?

Nice shot pete, really strong lines

I can stop my heart at will ;) I think the 5fps helps a lot.

So the 30D can do 5fps and bracketing at the same time? Either way, it's worked nicely...

It sure can. One of those new 1D mk III's would be nice for handheld HDR. 10fps!

Explain how, much thanks!

And if you give me the 'RTFM' treatment, I may have to hunt you down and cry on your feet.

Nah, I don't need that sort of trash corrupting my work ;)

The camera will take the pics twice the speed I currently take them. If you're handholding instead of using a tripod it will be very quick between shots so you won't move much.

No, I got that. Sorry, I wasn't clear.

How can you set the exposure bracketing different on each frame for burst shots?

AEB mode. Auto exposure bracketing. It's all in the guide (http://www.vanilladays.com/hdr-guide) :)

It is possible to do hand held AEB if you take all the correct preporations.

I have done it with marginal alignment errors at 5fps on a 20 and 30D

As long as your longest exposure is about 160th and to correct your stance, hold your breath when your relaxed and grip the camera correctly its quite possible.

Will have to give it a try next time I'm out :)

Does anyone know if Photomatix work with JPEGs and TIFFs?

You mean a mix of the 2? It works fine with 3 tiff's or 3 jpg's.
