Welcome to Round 3 of the TP : Photographer of the Year 2007.
As usual, the competition rules are here (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=15325).
Any questions, please feel free to ask.
Please use this thread to discuss the competition, and specifically the current round, and your interpretation of it. Also feel free to discuss ideas and thoughts etc. :) While there is an anonymous nature to the submissions and voting, there's no need to be secretive about ideas and the like. While we'd all like to win :D...the competition is for all of us to help improve our photography :)
So, on with this months theme, which is Black and White
The cut off for submissions to be received is 23:59 on the 31st March 2007
The winner of this round will receive an a4 or a3 sized print of their winning shot.

probably, there are only so many themes you can use before it starts getting strained, thats why magazines always repeat the same thing. we want people to get involved, so picking a good, easy theme will work best.
harder themes can be found in fornightly and challenges, if we ever actually remember to update them:bang:

Hnmmmmm thats typical, I could have used my tiger shot for this as I really liked that one, but cant now as already used it, will have to come up with something else instead.

Had a nice idea for a shot yesterday, but setting it up is going to be a pain in the butt. I'll have to put my thinking cap back on for an alternative just in case things don't go right.

Dont think I will be leaving this till the last day if at all possible as my last entry never made it, and as such isnt in the competition, just a word of warning for everyone ;)
I havent even thought about it yet! Which is ironic as I am going to find this the hardest of all.... putting it off I think! :)

I thought about it had a great idea then there were no darn zebras at the zoo (or they were all hiding) so now I'm hoping that inspiration strikes. It is funny for the last two competitions I knew what I was going to do right away. This one is going to take some thinking.

Yay :D I managed to get a good photo from one the ideas I had for this. Now have two different shots to agonise over, but there's still a couple of other ideas I want to try out before submitting one, ahhh...
Must get act together and find a shot for this month after submitting last month and not getting it shown, dont think it ever got there???!!!! problem with email somewhere, so advice is get it sent with time to spare just incase.

I've been really busy this month and haven't yet come up with anything :(
Nor me. wanted to do something more creative than just a mono shot.
may have to though as time will be of the essence.
I'm planning on taking mine this weekend. Still no idea what of yet though :shrug:
I've got a few comp deadlines coming up so this weekend I've got to get a good b+w, something with angles, another with curves and also a stunning landscape !

If that doesnt work, or the weather isnt right over the next few days, I have an idea to fall back on,so no excuses not to enter this time myself .... but whats the betting I find one! :bonk:

I wonder if most people are simply just converting a normal shot to mono....or making a colour photo of something black & white.
I favour the last one...seems to need more thought.
That was my biggest dilema Janice :thinking: I knew pretty much straight away the photo I wanted to take but how to process it has given me a real headache :bonk:. Still, I'm pleased with my end result so it's fingernail chewing time for a week or so now ;)

I didn't get one, I'm assuming it got there alright.
An hour and a bit to go and I've sent in an entry - kind of. My first and hopefully last use of an archive shot. Black and white means mono (I know it doen't have to but it does really) and I hate mono :(
Bit of luck and I'll continue with my 0 points run and I won't feel so bad about using the shot :)

Sent mine at 23:59 :D Silly compression kept messing up. 196kb, 180kb, 180kb, resize and then 160kb.
I haven't received any images in the past 48 hours...The inbox is completely empty?

I Didnt enter the last two comps, so even if it doesnt get a single vote, Im just really excited at seeing mine in there.
Theres some fab entries that lend themselves to b&w beautifully, so Im going to have a heard time in choosing my faves again this month.
Oh & Marcel ... it'll have to be 5p from me .... its not that Im a tight git ... Im saving for a new backdrop, lol!

Slide show never worked properly and most of the time the normal viewing is strange too :)

I've tried to tinker with the settings, it's supposed to sort it by title, ascending. But for some reason it isn't.
I'll try and have another play with it this evening, there may be some code tweaks that fix it. :)

Vote by PMing me the name under the pic...If you use the image name,that's fine, it's just that the gallery software adds a digit onto the end for some reason. So I can figure it out from either if need be, It'd just be easier if you send me the Image name.

Mine could surprise you as I've been really busy this week and only looked into doing the shot 30 mins before the deadline. There's some fantastic entries in there though.

How do I know if there were 3 people that gave my shot 1 point each.. (ie, put it in 3rd place on their list)

Ok my votes are in. Some good entries there. I like the photos where you can see the photographer has really put some thought and effort into it.

PS I'm pretty sure I spotted Pete's entry - perhaps this should be a seperate competition.
Some very good entries, but as with mine and I'm sure other people may be the same don't dismiss an entry just 'cause its mono, there may be another meaning within the pic. ;)
Voted, now the wait begins, I get so excited waiting for the results even though i know i will not do well, i can't help it. Must admit a couple of the pics voted for have surprised me in the last couple of rounds not the winners but some of the others not my cup of tea but there you go. Maybe thats why i don't get so many votes, just not what people are looking for?
