I have tried again With the partial metering tip from Janice.
I think the colours are more natural now and pretty damned close to the dog.
They are "untouched" apart from cropping & resizing.
but what do the rest of you think?

The colours in 1 look ok but with the direct flash the shadow is a distraction try bounding the flash or using a diffuser. I love the comp of #2 but the eyes aren't quite in focus (it seems to be on the paws). Adorable dog though.

I see what you mean, I did try and "get" the eyes but now I can see that I "missed"
