I am watching a lens on eBay and the seller describes it as in very good condition but with "WITH JUST ONE TINY SPECK OF DUST INSIDE THE LENS, THIS IS QUITE NORMAL FOR A ZOOM LENS AND CAN GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL NOT SHOW ON THE PHOTOGRAGH"
As a relative beginner to photography, do you think this would be OK?
Many thanks

The odd speck of dust is nothing unusual and is very unlikely to have any effect on the shots you take.

The longer the lens the speck will have less impact on it I guess you not know it was there as it is so far out of focus.
What lens is it as the 100-400 is the most likely for this.

Thanks for the replies. Its a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put the link up so it's item number 120503862713 :)

the 100-400 is the most likely for this.No it isn't. (I should know, I've got 30 of them!)

The 100-400 might put dust on your sensor (or it might not - I haven't any real data on that), but it's nowhere near the top of the league or attracting internal dust within the lens.
