View Full Version : Sunny Sunday
Expanding on my street photography I went out to Liverpool again today as it was lovely and sunny. I was walking around St Georges Park when I saw some girl reading a book and I just knew I had to take the picture. It was such a nice place that I knew there was no way I could casually take the shot. So do I walk away or do I go up to her and ask her to take the shot? Well as I hate regretting things, I went up to her. I simply asked if I could take her picture. She was taken back a bit, but then said "Should I continue reading?", which was exactly what I wanted. I took her picture and moved along. It really felt good to do it and I know in the future I can go up to more random people and ask to take their picture.

Then I saw some other girls and decided to push my luck :) Again they agreed, I took the picture and felt rather chuffed with my new found confidence.

I continued to wander around the park and saw some rather nice shadows.

Lastly I visited one of the cathedrals. I really need a wide angle lens for these places.

But did you get their phone numbers?
There's some really great pics there, by the way - not too sure on the first shadows one, but can't put my finger why (sorry, not very helpful I know - if it comes to me I'll post back)

Thanks, but no :) I was tempted to give them my card so they could see the shot. That is the next challenge. It makes me happy to know that theres room for improvement. It gives me a reason to go out again. I know what you mean about the shadows one. I do feel like there is something slightly wrong with it.
nice pix there buddy, and top marks for the balls to ask peeps to take their pix,
as for the shadows pic, how about reversing it , so you look from right to left as your drawn in, as most peeps will look from left to right it will draw em back into the pic, rather than shooting em out the right hand side, just a thought , lol

good stuff pete, i really like what you do AFTER you taken the picture with your editing, do you visualise that before you take the picture or is it something that you come to when your reviewing them on the pooter?

Thanks :) I'm technically a shy person, but photography is changing that :)

It depends really. The shot of the girl and the book, I just knew it would have to be black and white. The shot of the two girls, I wasn't sure about till I played around with the image. Sometimes I see the shot when I'm out, others when I'm experimenting in Photoshop.
Nice pics Pete ! :)
Good to see you overcoming shyness, and chatting to strangers mate ! It all helps ! :)
Nice shots :) How do you get that blue effect on the bench shot?

Yep, I was thinking it's maybe one of your top secret post processing effects
