View Full Version : Which Macro for first timer?
I have a Canon 450 d and was wondering what Macro lense to get as I would love to have a try at this as I love some of the images on here.
Was thinking of hiring before I buy and what sort of budget would I be looking at.
Thank you

i would go for the tamron 90mm f2.8 macro, brilliant lens, cheap price, and can also make a great portrait lens.

I had the Canon EF-S 60mm Macro and it was superb. The 100mm is supposed to be superb also!

Briony,
There's a couple of threads (links below) that you started a while back asking the same question....or are you looking for more specific advice?

Unfortunately not cheap, but a superb lens Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM £413.88
Sigma 50mm Macro lens is def worth a look, esp as your starting off:thumbs:
Briony, just get one of these - Raynox DCR-250 macro attachment. It's really easy to use, just clips on to the front of your kit lens, and I think is perfect for what you want to do. At £40 you can't go wrong.

100mm macro is the best universal macro lens, unless you can afford the L version or 180mm L.
