I saw this as I was landing at Boeing Field in Seattle. It looks like a cross between a 747 and an A380, but I am guessing it’s some form of Boeing. Can anybody shed any light on it for me out of curiosity?

I typed the planes registration markings into google and came up with it as being a 747-4j6 LCF

it's the first of 3 Large Cargo Freightliners built to transport major parts of the 787 dreamliner.

Cheers... something else when they have to build a special cargo plane to transport the bits of a new airliner. Was flying around over Seattle looking really weird!

You think thats big... try this

Bristol Brabazon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Brabazon) It's the reason why Bristol has one of the longest runways in the world :)

Is it not called a Guppy?

The Guppy is used for plane transport.
