Hi, i have a 450d and am looking for a good general allround lense, any feed back would be appreciated.

whats your budget? Am assuming you already have the 18-55 kit lens.

Yes i have the 18-55, im all new to this so i was going to buy of here and am not sure what an up grade would cost.
expensive option - 24-105 L at about £600
cheap option - Sigma 18-200 at around £225

An upgrade would range from £300-£1000, with andrewc's recommendation of the 24-105L. Very solid, reliable and sharp (apparently!).
Just so happens there's one for sale at the moment on TP, although I'd be quick as they're quite popular!

Could cost anything from a couple of hundred to a grand or more. Without knowing what your budget is, it's difficult to suggest a lens that doesn't fall outside what you are willing to spend.
ETA: Must learn to type quicker! ;)
