.... on Saturday what should I take.

First will be Florence, then Piza and then a short tour of Tuscani by hire car.

Anyone suggest what equipment I should take with me

of what you've got there, travel light. I'd take 24-70, 70-200, 12-24 and one 1dmkII. perhaps a flash if you want, maybe 35mm back-up body but not carried in the same bag? I was in florence last summer and took something similar in a shoulder bag (crumpler :D ) quick and easy to swap lenses. all other kit in bigger luggage bag - cleaning kit/puffer/recharger etc.
my only gripe was that the charger for the 1d is massive...

If you can take a bus ride out of Florence to Fiesole to the north...great views on a clear day. Tuscany this time of year is very nice

I agree - superb views of the Duomo and some great restaurants in Fiesole plus some Roman ruins that are worth a look - a bus ride from Florence.

Florence is a fantastic city, loads to see and do!

I strongly urge you to go and find the Specola. Its part of the university of florence's biology department not far from the boboli gardens/pitti palace on the south side of the river. dirt cheap and way way WAY better than trapsing round a gallery full of self-loving arty farty types.

looks like this:

rooms and rooms of it!

it also has the most incredible and amazingly accurate wax anatomical models

the whole place is like the natural history museum on steroids...

It's a great place, just be careful to hold onto your equipment!

why say that jas? If you're careful with your equipment on an everyday basis surely that would be no different away. I had no qualms about hoiking my gear around Florence and Rome, two popular tourist destinations. I agree you are more likely to be watched but if you're savvy with the way you carry it and handle it there's nowt to worry about.
in fact worrying means you're less likely to relax and enjoy the trip...I think having firstly a pro body helps and secondly crumpler bags really help as they don't shout 'camera inside'... if you're careful with your gear in this country its no different elsewhere in europe, they might talk funny but its all the same.

Shiato,

I say this because my partners sister lives in Naples and we have been to visit the areas in question and will again in the summer. One relative already had his camera forcibly taken from then and it was only a compact. Just like in England and many other tourist destinations, it was merely to say 'be careful' and aware at all times without alarming anyone too much.

 I'm always careful but a gentle reminder is always welcome ;)

I caught some pick pockets when I was in Rome but never got thanked.
