I have just switched over to a MacBook and have installed CS2, but i have a display problem. When I open an photo it opens pretty small. If I then zoom in to a size where i can work on the image by using ctrl & + it is seriously pixelated. Don't know whats going on. Im running my screen res at 1280 x 800.
Please Help!:bonk:
are the images you'e trying to open large? sunds like you're zooming to far in on an image not very big (800px for example)

No they are big images, straight from my camera so an example is 3008 x 2000
hmm strange, not sure why it's pixelating the images, sorry

Can you take a screenshot of the problem? Cmd-Shift-3

Is the problem only on photoshop, do you have illustrator as well, see if it does it in that.

Don't have illustrator no.
Right this is screen shot of what it looks like when I open an image.

The image is too small to work on, so I zoom in, and this is what I get.

Been playing around again this morning and this only happens when I open the image thru CS2, i.e. file - open.
If I go find the actual file then right click on it and select open with.... then CS2 it opens as I expect and I can zoom in without it becoming pixilated.

that screen shot shows it at 100% zoom when it is opened, so zooming in will make it pixelated.
Try going through the preferences to see if there is an option when opening files at what size they come in at (couldn't find one on my PC version of CS2)
At least you can get around it for the moment

Yes, it looks as through your 'original' file is in fact a resized image. The first screenshot also shows the file size is only ~250k. For 3008 x 2000 images, you're looking at a few megs for a jpg.

Really strange this! If I open the actual file by clicking on it and selecting open with..... then select CS2 it opens as expected as I said befor ebut it opens up with a file size of 17.2MB, really weird as its the same file just opened in 2 different ways!

Is it a RAW file? Could be that PS is just opening the jpeg preview of the RAW file for some reason

I thought RAW files opened up with RAW Converter automatically like they do on the PC version.
I have a feeling that the default ppi for PS opening an image is 72ppi..
There must be a way of setting it to the required ppi..

Nope its a jpeg
Raw can only be opened with the convertor. PS or Bridge.
