This is very similar to the thread started and concluded on tiff files batch conversion recently, the key difference is that I don't have photoshop, but i do have elements 5. :help:

Just been away on the snow for a week and took lots of pics and now need to convert around 250 raw files to jpeg and save them to cd to send. I always shoot in raw, but most people cannot read the files when I send them on.

In addition, as I'm running out of hard disk space, I am considering converting the holiday snaps type stuff into jpeg as I will not really want to process them in any way except maybe send them to other people. I can keep my 'photography' shots copied in a separate folder kept as RAW for future editing.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Copy all your NEF files to CD/DVD for safety, then get hold of a raw converter that can handle multiple files (I use breezebrowser) to do the conversions for you. 250 files will take a long time so you're best to do them in batches of 10 or so.

I haven't seen Elements 5 but I do have Elements 3 and it is a breeze on there.

Go to File > Process Multiple Files. You will see plenty of options on there including 'Quick Fix' where you apply auto levels, contrast sharpen etc and then save them as JPEGs in any size you want. You can also add a watermark/copyright if need be.

Hope this helps.

Colin is essentially right ... it is the same in Elements 5 ...

Just remember you have to be in the Editor workspace to access the Process Multiple facility ... ;)

And it is a breeze ... just as he says ... :D

You can always use Nikon View... a very useful bit of Nikon software but discontinued support after D200 :(

Download a copy Clicky here (http://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nikoneurope_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=16095&p_accessibility=&p_lva=16228&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfc m93X2NudD03NTgmcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N 2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfc GFnZT0x&p_li=&p_topview=1&nuc=1&p_sid=qWwEE*wi) it's free but you may have to register (also free).
