Someone clearly has to much time on their hands to play with PS!

The buildings definately ruin the original. Mainly the the big dark one dead centre. The detail in the bank is much bolder as well which makes all the difference.

I know - the buldings are a pain. The original was in colour and those reed things in the foreground were a lovely pink colour, but the water is actually brown and try as I might, I couldn't really do anything about it, so I took the easy option. Generally speaking, Walsall is as about as photogenic as a boil on your bum. :D

Ok smarty pants, please give me some tips on how the hell you got rid of those buildings.

It's a pain in the butt Gary, quite a lot of tedius work.

There's no easy way, it's a bit of a grind.

Cut out the parts of the tree in the foreground which are superimposed over the building

Cut out the black building in the centre

Clone the sky into the spaces you just cut out.

Cut out selective bits of branches from those remaining on your tree, flip them horizontally, paste back onto the tree and slowly build up a believable tree. This is the hardest bit. as you have to avoid duplicating the branches on the other side of the tree which would stand out at once.

Finally where the bank line has been damaged along the horizon, clone in bits of horizon from elsewhere in the picture until you've built it back up.

This is much more than I'd ever do to a picture except as an excercise, as it's way past the point of acceptable editing IMO but I do this sort of stuff all the while with my photo restoration work so it's good practice for me.

Cheers for the tip, it does look and sound very tedious but you have done a great job with it in this pic.
