... but when you turn it on, is the lcd rear panel blank under normal circumstances? I feel silly asking, but as they say the only stupid question is the one you don't ask...

I just this minute, and very excitedly, unpacked mine that I bought from Scraggs yesterday (top banana that bloke is). I'm used to a 400D where the rear panel displays all sorts of info. I'm assuming that's all on the top screen now? I've just taken a couple of test shots and they displayed fine. It also brings up the camera menu system when you press that button... it's just it seems so empty after my 400D!!!

This is gonna take some getting used to!

Thanks FFO! I thought that was the case but wanted to check. It already feels so different to my 400D, much more solid and the shutter just sounds much nicer. I'm looking forward to playing with this!

Thanks people. So far I have taken some shots of my car keys... I think maybe I need to expand my repertoire, although if there is a market for selling shots of car keys to the public for lots of money I'm in!

Press the info button and it will display all the settings etc... unless you are reviewing a pic then it will show shot info

I think I may well be using the 5D to take pics of a lot of my kit this weekend that will be up for sale very soon. I nearly didn't buy one purely because my 11-16 won't go on it. I think at the moment I have 2 lenses I can use!
