This was taken in the early hours of this morning. Its an interesting car to work with because I found the shape appeared to change depending on the angle. The location worked a lot better than I anticipated, with the very cool graffiti behind the car.

Last nights exhibition went very well. It was the launch of Another Late Night’s (http://www.anotherlatenight.org/) latest issue, Metropolis. The entire magazine was printed up and laid out like a gallery. I was lucky enough to have my own section with some of my HDR work around the city. It proved to be quite popular. I was chatting to all kinds of people from Liverpool and even Germany! A few people suggested I should launch a postcard range, which I am now looking into. The craziest moment though was when I gave someone my business card which had this photo from the Condi Rice protest (http://www.vanilladays.com/gallery/2006/04/condoleeza-rice-in-liverpool-4/) on it. He then spoke to a friend who said it looked like someone. The original guy came over to tell me and about a minute later the actual girl from the shot appeared saying “Some photographer has me on his business card!” How small a world is that? All in all it was a great night out. Nice to see familiar faces that I’ve met over the past year. Thanks to Charles and Dave from Another Late Night, and the Alima Centre. The exhibition is on till the 13th of April.

its a poor angled shot IMO. cant see anything of the car and all my attention is focussed on the grafitti. Got any other shots from a different angle?

:( Yeah I do. That was the first one that caught my eye.

I like it! Very Top Geary (not sure you will think that is a good thing) but I think it works well, maybe too much to draw your eye away from the car (if that was meant to be the focus), but as an image it works for me :)

I love Top Gear and they are a big inspiration in my car photography. The way I wanted it to work was as an image. If I wanted to shoot just a car I could have done that in the drive. I wanted to do something a bit magazine like.

Knowing the 911 pretty well I'm not sure you've caught the best angle. But I do like the backdrop and the urban setting. I just think the front headlights are so iconic it is hard to get across that this is a Porsche pic without them. But what do I know I'm just a girl...

I like it Pete, it's a change from the normal vanilla car shots i see around.

I know what you mean. I think I have some of the front. I never like to play by the rules though :D

This works well for me as a complete image - not just a shot of a Porker. :)

I like the shot Pete (but then I do love 911s  ), the graffiti looks great and its a nice idea. The only 2 things I'm not too keen on, is that I don't think you've got the 911 from its best angle there (personal preference ok) and also the image looks a bit like computer graphics. I can't explain it very well, but the lines on the car look like you see in those very good computer simulations - not quite 'real'.
Still a nice shot though :)

I was taking some photos of some classic motorbikes (with £16.5k price tags!!) in a shop last weekend but found interesting things happened at 10mm. Most obvious was distortion to the wheels. However, as an image, I like this one. Reminds me of a time I passed by a grotty horrible rundown bit of wasteland in Canning Town one night, and there were black BMWs parked up. "Don't look. Just don't bloody look" said my mate...

Yeah I didn't shoot that many with the 10mm lens. I didn't want to distort the look of the car too much.

Pete,

I'm afraid I will echo some points already made, not my favourite angle of the 911, just not angled enough.

I do like the graffiti, but strangely, I love the pavement in the pic the most!

I'm surprised you're not getting more praise for this photo. It's an unusual angle of a very photographed car and IMHO the better for it. I love the detail you have on the floor and the graffiti in the background. I wish the blue door wasn't on the left hand side but I love it

I don't see what there is to dislike about this, the texture of the slabs leads you into the car and the backdrop couldn't be better IMO, the contrast between urban decay and the iconic smooth lines of the 911 is very well done.

Absolutely top notch and definitely one of your better shots.

I agree!

Love this shot - full of contrasts.

(Bet the owner of the 911 didn't leave it parked there for long though?)

Me too but as I have just spent the last two days power washing the scum off my patio that's hardly suprising!

We were there around 7am to do the shoot, it was fine :) Seems the shot is full of contrasts causing contrasting opinions :D

Nice work Pete. Agree that this not the conventional sexy shot of a 911 but I like the style of it.

I actually quite like this shot, thought it looked familiar, but I think this shot works better thant a lot of the other shots I've seen of it. (Think they had the same problem as you with the tyres though in B & W)
