tripod + ball head [Archive] - Talk Photography

I miss really now a good tripod and ball head .. what will you suggest ? .. manfrotto ? which one ?

I would recommend a gitzo tripod, theye are lightweight and strong.

The choice of head comes down to what it will be used for.

A ball head would be a good start for general photography.

any modell for gitzo tripod ? i mostly use it for macro thren being able to shoot from the top will be usefull

I use the gitzo explorer, it is the ideal tripod for macro work.
Attach the gitzo off center ball head and your away.

just another question ? is it ok for a EOS 1D + big telezoom .. a few kilos ?

Yes, thats the setup I have.
They are more than adequate to support 1D and large telezoom. I have had the 10D with grip and Sigma 800mm on mine.
I would suggest getting the manfrotto 393 head for large lenses though, see LINK (http://www.thephotographyforums.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemi d=63).

i think i shall take the tripod and ballhead first (> 400 euros) and get the rest latter
