I tried to use the nikon d50 yesterday, only i couldn't....
it had not long come off charge but it was showing 1 bar of battery only.
it won't show me any pics i have taken if i press play
it also displays R10 when i press the shutter...

has it finally died or is it solvable?

i managed to take a couple of pics but had to take the battery pack in and out in between each one

Sounds like the battery may be on its last legs rather than the camera but without dropping a fresh, known to be good battery into the camera, it's hard to be sure. If you have a firend with a body that takes the same series of batteries (the D50 will accept any of the EN-EL3 series, including the a and e versions designed for later bodies like the D200, 300 and 700).

The R10 you see in the viewfinder tells you how many shots you can take before the buffer is full.

Sounds like the battery has come to the end of it's life, I would pop into a camera shop and ask if they have a battery you could try before buying on if it is the battery that is the problem.

Is there a memory card in the camera? If the settings have been set a certain way the shutter won't fire if there is no card present.

As stated R10 refers to the amount of images you can record before the buffer fills up.

there was a 1gb card in the camera. Going to take it up the camera shop today to try a couple of batteries
