what's this 'ere hole for then..?

Manfrotto tripod first time used this evening.....

what's the hole for - looked through FITP stuff but nothing seems to fit, but I am assuming it's for attaching an umbrella or sumting ?

I think the strap has a screw that fits there and the other end hooks around the feet

I think you are right John. My older manfrotto 028 came with a strap that worked exactly like that.

it came in a black nylon carry tube with attached strap so I never thought of a separate strap.. thanks
