I had to throwall of my clothes in the wash after taking this shot today.
I lay down on the ground then crawled upto its resting place.
When it finally left, I picked myself up and realised I was covered in mud. :D
nothng gets in the way of a good shot!
funny looking bugger that one!
I was hoping it would open its wings, the tips are bright orange hence the name.
You can just make out the orange through its wing.
I reckon it was worth the dirty clothes as it's quite a pic!
Wow, I agree I would gladly get my clothes dirty for a shot like this. Absolutely stunning. I have never seen anything like that before, great shot Matt.

Was just about to say the same. Butterflies (especially the small British ones) are a bugger to shoot :)
What equipment (lens) did you use to capture this beauty?
I used the following kit to aquire this shot:
Tamron 90mm Macro lens, Integral iPro 2G CF.
Processed with RSE and photoshop.
Can I suggest all image posts, include the equipment details.
