Hi there

I'm not sure I can describe this as well as I hope, but, I'll give it a go.

Basically when I take my images into Photoshop (default size 3008 x ___) and I edit them, crop them etc I begin to have problems when uploading them to places like flickr and here.

If I try and make the image bigger - I lose a lot of the quality and the image becomes horribly pixiliated. What am I doing wrong?

I see people upload images here and they are the forum max limit - but I can't seem to do it.

Thanks in advance

well if you take an image that's say 3000pixels square, crop it to say 1000pix square, you cant then just go and stretch it back to 3000 again because there is not enough detail left to retain quality, you just have to make do with a smaller image size.

the forum max size here is 800pix on the longest size, thats quite a crop if your image is 3k to start.

Is that what your getting at?

you need to edit the image size & make a copy that is web friendly sized. Maximum size they should be is 800px wide.

Normally when you resize your image, you may need to duplicate the layer and apply the sharpen filter... then adjust the opacity of that layer, so it doesn't look overly done.

To edit the image size in Photoshop... click on 'Image' > 'Image Size' > then adjust the pixel width/height in the box that brings up.

After editing your images, Make sure you have saved them @ the max quality ie Tiff,Psd or Jpeg, the choice is yours. Open the image that you want to upload in Photoshop & click File/save for web/ resize to your chosen web size & then save with a different file name. Job done
