I definately wouldn't say that you failed mate, theres something about that second shot that I really like. Looks like quite harsh light & given the fact that they move soooo fast I think you did a great job under such difficult circustances :clap:
Was the second taken in RAW? If so, is there any chance you may be able to extract a bit more detail from the highlights or have you considered cloning to replace the white on the left?

Thanks for comments, i may have a try in the morning as i have tracked them back to nest and have watched the daily routine all week.

I have thought of putting little blobs of glue on most commonly used branches in an effort to get a decent shot :bang: :bang:
