Well 800mm f/5.6L IS looks like a bargain in comparison.

No way man :nono:....it's only f5.6! show me a 1200mm f2.8 and I will be impressed...;) Perhaps they are in the process of growing the fluorine crystals as we speak??? shame I won't be around to see it:shake::thumbsdown:

Amazing how after all these years (I can remember having a go with one at Focus NEC in the late 90s) this lens still amazes people. Still reckon Canon have only sold a handful...

...wasn't there a horror story on the net of one getting trashed... or was it something more mundane like a 600mm f/4?

I believe the Sigma 200-500 F/2.8 is a bit harder to come by

It was a 600 f4 on POTN.

The owner of Oakley has one of these.

I first saw one of these when everybody's favourite Mr.Rockwell posted that B&H had one for sale a couple of years back.

I dare her to hand hold it

I've seen one of these up here in Canada and the thing is a monster. If I had the moola I would be all over it like fly on dung. Although this particular one was well beat up, scratched, dinged and knocked. Watching the tog put it away was painful. No respect for it, just slinging it about.

That's either a different one, or the price has gone up $20k while it's been sat in the shop :)

I think a film company owns one, as it was used to film the opening scene in Transformers (the first one)
