View Full Version : POTY Round 4 - Inside
Welcome to Round 4 of the TP : Photographer of the Year 2007.
As usual, the competition rules are here (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=15325).
Any questions, please feel free to ask.
Please use this thread to discuss the competition, and specifically the current round, and your interpretation of it. Also feel free to discuss ideas and thoughts etc. :) While there is an anonymous nature to the submissions and voting, there's no need to be secretive about ideas and the like. While we'd all like to win :D...the competition is for all of us to help improve our photography :)
So, on with this months theme, which is Inside
The cut off for submissions to be received is 23:59 on the 30th April 2007
The winner of this round will receive an a4 or a3 sized print of their winning shot.
Please email your correctly sized entries, with your forum username in the subject or body of the email, to competition@talkphotography.co.uk.
Just a little note, there are still one or two that are sending oversized entries (either by file size or dimensions). This isn't a problem, as we're kind and always resize, but please can you just double check the sizes before you send. It makes getting the entries up for voting alot easier.
(Especially if you're like me and have just upgraded to Vista, and need to play about with software before it resizes properly for you ;)).
Thanks.
Nice one, now this can have a ton of interpretations, so I really think this will appeal to everyone.
Cheers again Marcel and team for all the hard work. :)
Nice. brains going a mile a minute already to think of something for this.
Thanks guys
OOOOOOH!!!!!
Got me an idea already ... I guess that means come the 30th April at 11.59 ... Ill be madly emailing a rushed job, that has absolutely nothing to do with what Im planning now!
Cheers Marcel!

Don't worry .... We all have a month to think of something and some of us still can't manage it. (Me) :D

We are talking about the competition here aren't we Kev? :naughty:
I know the shot I want to take but I'm really struggling with the execution on this one :( The "props" I need aren't available to me so I'm trying to improvise

I'm struggling for ideas for this, had a few but its just managing to set them up.
 Yes, I have come up with an idea that I think might work, but again its a matter of props, so still head scratching really. I have sent the bossman one pic but it really only loosely fits the theme and not one of my best efforts, but I was bored one late night and was just playing with the camera. Hey ho!!

I had a great idea but my husband told me I couldn't break the law (the actual taking of the picture was the law breaking part). Soooo it is back to the drawing board for me.
Oh come on you HAVE to share that one...lol

No it had to do with taking a pic on Menwith hill through the barbed wire onto the Yorkshire Dales..... Unfortunately if I was caught the best that would happen would be to make me erase the pic the worse would be bye bye back to the states a few months early!
Shame you're in the situation you're in, you could have done what Mark Thomas did.
Surprisingly enough, even though theyre hot on security around Menwith Hill, the air space above it isn't restricted.
So he got a hot air balloon and organised "Menwith Hill view tours"...lol

Would this be Mark Thomas of radio fame? The same Mark Thomas that protested against protests in THE funniest radio show ever?

hehe saw him do a show in Edinburgh last year - he is damn good!
Quite possibly LadyLens, I think he describes himself as a 'Political Comedian' / Activist or something like that.
His TV shows on Channel 4 were genius. Going round the country, exposing governmental loopholes and scandal in a comedy show, and also stick one up the backside of global commerce by doing things like driving a tank through the McDonalds drive though, or buying 100 cheeseburgers from McDonalds for a quid each, and selling them from a van over the road for 50p..... Funny stuff :D
.... Welll my wonderful idea isnt going to come off now .... surprise, surprise! :(
Going to have to look around for something else, pretty sharpish.
Heres a link to a part of one of his episodes on Youtube

  Yep, that's the fella. He did a show for radio 4 exposing the ridiculousness of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act which means that permission is needed for ANYTHING that could be construed as a protest in and around parliament. It was the funniest thing I have ever heard on a car radio. This is the BBC's info page, the listen again has already been removed unfortunately, but if you can find it elsewhere, its well worth a listen. Sorry, not totally on-topic I realise, but if any of us ever want to protest regarding our rights as photographers, then this show is worth finding and listening to ;)

Anyway, still trying to find props for my idea, but I have had a couple more that I shall have a go at over the next day or two with slightly more accessible props.

Hmmmm still not got anything I am happy with at the moment, and lacking ideas, roll on the end of nights so I might be able to do something about an entry.

I'm annoyed with this as I couldn't get to do my idea, partly because of roosting sparrowhawks, and partly because I still can't correct my fish eye properly :bang:

Two minutes (and the time it takes to brew up and nip to the loo) to closing folks :)
Well in the words of Phil Collins ... 'I missed again'
Never did get to meet up with my pregnant cousin for my 'Inside' shot. :(
Well, I thought I was being clever anyway .... and they say its the thought that counts!
Good luck people!
Entries are now up, and voting begins until the 7th.
To vote, please PM me your top 3, just the numbers will do :).
Thanks to everyone for entering!
Interesting takes on the theme there.
Wish it wasn't so hard to see all the entries though! 'next image' takes me in circles and leaves loads out. Didn't even work by starting with 01 this time.

OK, I can now make my confession - guess who didnt read the rules properly and sent two! {I should have been born a bloke, I never read rules or instructions for anything] I knew by the time I had sent the second I had cocked up, but couldn't publish it - you never know, some cyber glitch might have meant my first one hadn't reached the inbox
However, I am once again amazed by the incredibly high standard of work on here. It wasn't the easiest theme to represent and the range of images are fabulous.   Brilliant efforts by everyone!!
Cool, great entries this month, my votes are in, now the wait is the killer!
