Can someone help. :help:

A while ago I saw a photo of someones front room and the photographer had taken lots of shots of himself sitting in different positions and then had layered all the photo's onto each other.

Infact I think Janice did one aswell?

Anyway, can someone tell me how to do this in Photoshop please?
Thankyou! :D

Yes sorry Marianne - This was the one I was thinking of!!!!
How did you do this?

well...I used a tripod, and a self timer. Just keep experimenting....I took loads of shots, got really knackered running in and out of the shots to reset the camera, I suppose a remote comtrol would make this easier. I then used the magic of Photoshop. Opened each photo, resized them all to the same dimentions....work as big as your pc will allow so you can print your masterpiece! I dragged all the photos onto one canvas so they were layered one on top of the other and used layer masks to reveal the 'me' on the image below the other one. Another hint is to lower the opacity a bit so you can see the other 'me's' on the underneath layers. You can also use the eraser but I find that too limiting. Do you know about layer masks? I don't want to teach you to suck eggs(even if it is Easter!)

Some cameras even let you do multi exposures now so you can make the com[posite 'in camera'....clever, easier but not so much fun as doing it all yourself.

Ask me questions, I love to talk PS!

See my Avatar :)

tripod and wireless remote shutter release. Just sat in a few positions and merged and masked the images in Photoshop

Why resize? All your images are already the same size straight out of the camera. Once you start resizing you are reducing the quality of that image (by throwing away pixels).

Do the edits at the max size you can. Most modern PCs should be able to handle a large image pretty easily. Once you have made the composite and have edited as marianne says (using layer masks is the way to go), then I'd flatten the image and save at full size tif and a resized jpg for posting on the web.

No point resizing if you actually want to print the image.

there is if you want it to be A4 or A3 or does your camera make them this size? It's an irrelevent argument IMO...I've got a head cold so I think I'll blog off...

Thankyou guys... I'm feeling abit miserable as I have a kidney infection so cant go and enjoy the bank holiday... :(

No marianne, I'm not great with photoshop. I like to use the clone tool and the 'spot' eraser (as I call it!!) but as I can't go anywhere at the mo I'm gonna try and be creative on the computer!!

actually Barry has just informed me that our D200's do allow multi exposures but you have to know how to calculate the exposure/s

you can get concentrated cranberry capsules....the other thing that we all used to drink is lemon barley water...the barley is the magic ingredient. I am the most horrid angry person when I am ill, I am usually making something creative at a moment's notice but this head cold is driving me nuts. I ache all over and keep getting a shooting pain going from my nostril into my eye...GGggrrrrr....atishoooo"!

I will give it a go when I am better CT...got to tidy up a bit now...slowly...lol...where's me bin bags???

D200 can overlay 2 (or maybe more) images over each other in camera - pretty close to what you want, get each individual exposure correct and use the overlay as a guide only to see that you are getting what you want and then blend everything in PS later, you'll have more control this way.

You can also take mulitple images and slowly put them over each other..each time using the eraser tool to rub away where the people are in the underneath one.

Ah ... looks like Marianne has already mentioned that method.......sorry!
