But everything besides that wire... is ok. Its a nice photo!

Thank you ! :)
I would crop it a bit and get rid of the cone, if that wire wasnt niggling me !
Ian it's easily sorted mate. Draw a freehand mask tight around the wire then feather the mask by about 4 pixels. Keep dropping the gamma by degrees until it all but disappears. Any tiny bits still visible - set the size of the clone tool quite small and the opacity about 50% then clone them out. You can do it.
Ian this is just the mask and the gamma adjusted.

Damn ! Is that with PSP ?
I got Photoshop CS and trying to work out how to do it ! May have to install PSP and have a go with that ! lol
It is, but you should be able to do it with PS.
In PS Ian, draw your mask with the lasso tool then SELECT then FEATHER - set it to 4 ( I think)

Thanks trying it now ! :) I could be some time !
lol
Don't bother buggering about with the wire in front of the car. End your mask at the end of the blue bit on the front aerofoil.

LOL D'oh ! back to the drawing board ! :)
Im getting there i think !!!!
I could be a few days at this ! but i am determined ! ;)
Well you can do it mate and it' s good practise. That's a pretty rough job I just did. Where the wheel is a bit darker at the bottom it's the same principle to adjust it afterwards. Mask- feather, raise the gamma till it blends in.
The elegant way to do it is deal with the wire behind the wheel as one mask. Then the bit in front of the wheel arch - another mask.. Finally deal with the levels of the tyre and wheel as separate masks adjusting the levels as necessary to blend it all in. It sounds a lot but once you get used to using the mouse, and I know it's awkward at first, it takes literally minutes.
Everybody should have a go at this with your pic.

Glad i posted it up now !
I dont mind people having a play if it helps us learn these things ! :)
If you can do this and make a reasonable job of it you'll be well on your way.
Btw if you're working on the original large file - you'll have to feather the mask by a LOT more than 4 pixels! :D

I havent been, i was tempted too though ! at least i can make copies of it already sorted out !!! lol
Well this is great because it's a real practical problem you've encountered - better than some rambling 'How To'. More important though, once you've done this you'll have some idea of what can be done with masks and you'll be able to tackle all sorts of jobs like selectively altering the levels in parts of your pics. Once the general principal clicks you'll find yourself sorting out lots of other problems on your own. I wouldn't bother with the wire in front of the car personally it's hardly relevant, but you can deal with it separately if you want to after you've sorted the car out.

Yeah !! :)
I think this is a perfect example of needing a tablet, or a better mouse ! My mouse isnt accurate enough, is making it frustrating, plus im tired which doesnt help ! lol (hopes no-one spots the feeble excuse) ;) LOL
Rome in a day mate - take your time. A mouse is actually better for drawing masks than a pen IMO. Try the other mask tools in PS I'm working from memory. There's one called the magnetic lasso tool which is brilliant but you do need to be working round an area where there's different levels of contrast. Try it you'll see what I mean. I use the Microsoft Intellipoint meece thingies with no ball and I knacker up abut two a year.
Im using a Logitech wireless mouse thingy, is quite old now, maybe time to get a better one !
Is the problem working in IT, i hate the things at home, so i dont tend to upgrade it ! lol
Am starting to warm to it now i can see it has uses ! :)
great way of fix it.
In PS CS you can use the stamp tool, the healing brush, and you can adjust the curves and levels to try to match just that selection, and then clone as CT told you.
