Basic EXIF:
Panasonic FZ20
1/250
F4.0
ISO 100
Exposure bias -1/3rd
The image has been run through a noise filter, sharpened a little, slightly cropped and resized for the forum.
The orignal image can be found here:

An unaltered (except for a run through a noise filter) of a Jordan car can be found here http://www.diesel-power.org.uk/P1030186_filtered.jpg
Thanks in advance for any comments/tips
Joe T :)
Not many tips needed there by the look of it. Whilst it's much harder to swing with the camera and get the shot on a straight rather than in a bend, you do get a better sensation of speed with the blurred background. What lens was it? I might crop it at the bottom if only get the car away from the dead centre of the shot.
Thanks for the comments. The camera is a Panasonic FZ20 as stated above which is a fixed lens model. It has a Leica-branded lens with a 12x zoom (35-432mm if I remember correctly).
Its a great shot Joe but as CT has stated, becomes stronger when cropped slightly at the bottom to lower the car into the bottom third of the picture instead of the centre.
No doubt that its a great shot though, well done!! :)
Something like this then?

Or even more so?
I agree, it does look better like this.
Yup thats better but a little more will increas its impact

Much better now, don’t you think? Look at the first shots framing and then compare it to the last crop and the impression of speed has increased as has the whole impact of the shot. :)
Yes, I do agree it looks better. Thanks for the help! :)
Im thinking of getting a 15"x10" print of this image from Photobox.

No problem sir, that is what we are here for. :)
I have used Photobox myself several times and have been totally happy with the results. If you have not used them before, make sure that you download the colour calibration chart first to set up your monitor for balance, saturation and brightness. That way your print will match what you see on the screen and you will be totally happy.
Thanks Steve, I have used them beofre, but only for small prints. I might have a go with the calibration chart. :)

If you already have a print from them use that to match your screen to, it will give better results. Adjust the screen's controls to match the print exactly or as close as possible, then adjust the f1 picture in your editing software to appear how you would like it to look. That way the print should be pretty close to your vision.
Do you tend have prints done in gloss or matt? Ive had them all done in gloss so far, including some 10x8s, and Im beginning think that matt might look better.
I have so far had my prints done as gloss however my decision may be different depending on how you intend to display the print.
Also have a look on on the forums for the Epson FREE A2 print offer. They are offering many different paper options including canvas. As its free, you just register, this may be a good oppotunity to give it a try? There are many here that have taken up this offer and are very happy with the results :)
Had a play with one of the other images:

I have taken the liberty of editing the last picture as it was easier than describing the process. Actions performed are a small rotation to correct the horizon, some cloning of the top section of barrier to allow me an aggressive crop without leaving any distracting sections. Finally to complete the picture I have applied a very small amount of sharpening and a simple border. As you can see the image is totally transformed.

As I am working on my laptop and don’t currently have access to my webspace. I had to upload the picture to my personal gallery on the forums. Once you have confirmed that you have viewed and finished with my version of the image I will remove it as it is not my work. Please let me know as soon as you have done that.
Sorry I forgot to add that it may be worth cloning out the blue and white marker section as well if you think that will further enhance the final image?

Hi guys.
I'm planning on going down on Friday for the testing (apparently all teams except Minardi and possibly Jordan will be there!)
How busy was it last time you guys went?
I went the year before last and it was relatively quiet, with plenty of spaces/room to get pics...
Also, would you say a whole day would be a bit much?
I want to get down there when it opens, but my mate who is coming with me reckons we should go down around 12ish...?
When i went a few weeks ago, it was really quiet, only 2 teams were practising, but now as it closer to the grand prix i susspect a few more will be there, and also may be more spectators too !
Good thing is you can get right to the fence, which makes it easier to get rid of it in ya pictures ! :)
Im trying to get there friday as well, depends if i get this job in london finished !
