I drove 540 miles round trip yesterday in the hope of getting onto Bass Rock.
I'd booked my place and confirmed everything was OK before I left, to be told on arrival that,"the boat won't be sailing because of thr swell".
It was rather windy aswell.

So off I trundled down the water front where I noticed the Gannets were coming close to the shore and dive bombing what they thought were fish.
I headed for the bit of rock that stuck out into the sea, to get as close as I possible could and waited for my first victim.

Armed with Camera and 100-400, I managed to capture this image.

Lovely shot. What committed, patient people wildlife photographers are. I used to work with a guy named Steve Saddler years ago who turned pro and went to work for National Geographic. I dunno if he still does, but his knowledge of animals was enormous, as of course it has to be.

This shot just makes me want my 100-400mm L .... Now.

Excellent work, Matt. A nice bonus after the disappointment of the boat cancellation.
