For those who might be interested ....
Although it's called a "weekend", this event basically takes place on the Friday and Saturday.
There are "events" and "happenings" around the town during the daytime on both days, including a Goths -v- Locals footie match :cuckoo:.
The big gladrags-n-finery Masquerade Ball (sort of the Coven of the Articulate at the Venice Carnival) is on in the Pavillion on the Saturday night, but there are never enough tickets so there are overspill events with bands etc in various pubs around the harbour.
Sunday is the winding-down and chill-out day. A few hardy survivors stagger up to the 199 steps to go to church, no doubt looking more like death warmed up than goths usually do .... :D
People start to wander homewards. However some folks hang on for a few days after the event officially finishes to chill out some more, just as some tend to arrive early to soak up the atmosphere.
So - it would be possible to do the Goth Fest on Saturday and attend the nearby steam thingy on the Sunday - two very different events in one weekend.
If you can't make it this time, the WGW is on twice yearly - Hallowe'en and Beltane (last w/e of April). The Hallowe'en event is said to be bigger but you have the daylight problems.
I shall be attending later this month. When you can scrounge free accommodation and parking a few streets behind the Magpie Cafe it seems churlish not to :D
Anyone else going to make it?
