Meet James, or Jums as he is known. I managed to catch him gazing out the window, god only knows what he was thinking about.

This final image is just a result of experimenting with PP techniques, combining different layers and using the High Pass sharpening technique. The grainy effect is deliberate, I upped the ISO for that to get a different look. I realise it's blown out in a couple of places but I don't mind that.

As you can see he inherits his good looks from his Dad. :D

Wow, superb portrait, as always.
Any pointers/tips/links as to how you got this photo to the finished product?

Shot in natural light @f/2.8 in RAW. Just made a normal colour conversion and adjusted for levels and sharpened using High Pass Filter. I made a copy and used the Midnight Sepia plugin (I haven't got the link to hand but you can Google it) and when the adjustments were finalised on that version I copied it across on top of the original image and dropped the opacity. I then made a Layer mask to bring back the sharp eyes (the Midnight Sepia and Midnight Black plug-ins give a very soft effect), the original is much warmer than the web version as I didn't change the colour space.

I can really recommend the plugins, I use them all the time for various shots, even landscapes.

I like it......if anything I'd darken the bright side ever so slightly. Lovely eyes.
