A good kind face, and full of character. The Turks are the friendliest, and most generous people I have yet to come across outside of the UK.

Good portrait but it is crying out for mono treatment to bring out the chracter of the gentleman's face, I've had a quick go...

(Got rid of the umbrella as well :D)

Quick clean up of the dandruff and get rid of the white dot above the right shoulder and Roberts your mothers brother.

Nice shot Doug! I personally much prefer the colour version although it's very soft. I'd sharpen it, get some contrast into it and crop in tight on that incredible face. :)

Great portrait - really like the mono version as it accentuates the craggyness of his face. However, my experience of the Turks was quite different to yours... I found them to be very intimidating and got nothing but hassle which is why I have never been back to Turkey.

That may be to do with you being a woman. Women don't rate very highly in some Middle Eastern countires, even today.

I think this is a great pic, but prefer the colour version.

Hi,

For those that have been less than enthusiastic about their treatment from the Turkish, I'd just like to say, that from the minute that Wendy and I stepped onto Turkish soil, we found the Turks to be nothing other than friendly, considerate, polite, and welcoming.

We visited the deep south of Asian Turkey, where it seemed that most of the locals were Arab rather than european, and I guess it may be that the situation is not as good in the north.

We consistently found that bills for meals were far less than printed on the menu, and that for every day we visited a particular restaurant, the bills got less, and the portions bigger. By the end of the holiday, we were being given far more than was possible to eat.

We did find that shopping could be a little intimidating, because everywhere, shopkeepers were desparate to sell their goods, so the got a little vociferous. Once we stopped at a shop/stall however, the vendor would pull out a stool for each of us, and pour us glasses of apple tea whilst we negotiated a purchase. This happened for every item, whether it cost a few lira, or a hundred. We did tend to fill up with apple tea however:lol:

I liked Turkey a lot, and I would definitely go back and visit again. I would not however, fly with Onur Airways again, no matter how good the deal.
