Is the nikon 50mm 1.8 much cop? I've got a 50mm for my KM and love it and I'm thinking of getting the 50mm 1.8 for a mate as a present. Good or bad idea?

The quality is good, then add the fact it can be had for £70ish, its well worth it.

Excellent lens. If it was bought for me, I'd be very pleased indeed! Would mean I would then have 2 though. :D

My mate has just bought me one and I'm waiting for it to arrive in the post, can't wait!

It is a very highly regarded lens and at the price it's at it's a steal.

There's a technical review here which should give you a very good idea of the lens' capabilities: http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/nikkor_50_18/index.htm
