Found this this afternoon on the mat in our conservatory, kids petrified wife left home and i'm worried there might be one under me pillow, what is it?

quick look .......looks like it maybe a 'bee fly' (Bombylious major)..alledgedly quite harmless.

an inch is that from head to arse! or everthing?
if body is an inch alone...get running.lol

I would have said Mosquito (but in the true words of Manuel..."I know noooooorteeeeen").

That long thing on the front is enough for me to introducce it to my shoe (sorry nature lovers, its a cruel world out there....small things hurt me, so I have my natural defence....my size 11's).
