A few birds we saw on our travels... If anyone can correct any of our (possibly questionable) ID's then we'd be grateful!

The two above of Skylarks were taken at the Balranald Nature Reserve on the island of North Uist. It was a very grey dreary day and the light was pretty poor.

A Redshank..

Little Gulls, we think, although they could be black headeds....? (Now confirmed by Ven as Black Headeds)

And some Common Gulls - one in flight and two stood on a rock!

The last four were all taken at South Shawbost on Lewis.

Thanks for looking! :)

:agree: Witch ... ... very well taken and from a place I would really love to visit ... :D ... or so Jill keeps telling me ...

Spot on with all the IDs too except your fourth pic is indeed Black-Headed Gulls ... diagnostic are the black wing tips in all three ... absent on Little Gull ... ;)

TFS ... :D

Glad people like No 4 - that's my favourite too - and I was especially cropped with it as I'd been watching them and waiting for "the right moment" - really felt I got it too and no cropping needed!

Ven - you WOULD love it honestly - lots and LOTS of birds to watch (we think we heard a Corncrake this year - first time ever, although needless to say no actually sign of the little blighter), as well as some truly fantastic landscapes and wonderful peace and quiet....!

Fabulous! Seriously - if you liked the bits of Scotland that you saw when you went up the other week - next time you have a week spare get your bum over to the Outer isles - you'll love it! I'll be getting a few more pics on here this evening hopefully.

Magic - I will.
I will defintely be going back to Skye but the Outer Isles appeal. We are probably going up again next year at the same time, so I'll keep you posted, looking forward to seeign those landscapes.
