View Full Version : Wedding #3 - with a twist (56k warning!)
I did another wedding at the weekend at short notice and it was a guy from Newcastle marrying a girl of Asian descent. The wedding ceremony was a civil affair in a hotel which is where these were taken.
A proud Mum and her boys:

Some sepia toning added:

From the hotel it was on to a restaurant but in the meantime the bride disappeared for an hour and a half to get changed. At the restaurant the bride arrived separately from the groom and I'd just popped outside when I saw the groom and his family crossing the road, this was a quick grab shot as it reminded me of a film, although I don't know which one.

Some from the restaurant:

Then came the surprise! It is tradition to have formal portraits of the bride against a black background although nobody had seen fit to tell us. I managed to scrounge a bit of black cloth and with some ingenuity and no small amount of cursing we managed to rig up a makeshift backdrop. The second problem was we didn't have any studio lights so I decided just to go with the Gary Fong LS on the SB800 on top of the camera. I must say I am very impressed with the quality of these for just one gun - let me know if you agree!

Some nice shots there - good work. The first portrait shot of the bride at the end could do with a slight contrast boost in my opinion, so it's more like the second.

The "traditional" portraits of the bride don't really work for me. There's nothing technically wrong with them, just really not my cup of tea but it looks like you pulled it off pretty well! I'd say the Lightsphere's paid off.
I'm sure they'll be very pleased with the results, and considering you didn't really have much in the way of scenery to use for backdrops, I think you've done fantastically well with the outdoor shots.

The originals are much better, I didn't change the colour space when I converted for on here. :bonk:
Execellent pictures!
I particually like the one with the bride "staring into space"

Film = Reservoir dogs (me thinks)
Good Shots
56K warning Gilli - is for folks who can't or haven't got broadband and use a 56k modem to dial up, and the pics take an age to show.

A nice set, I particularly like the guys in the street and the last two bride shots.
If they are with the on-board flash, I'll cancel my order for a flash gun
I'm impressed. All top notch.
Colin they are fabulous!
Its wonderful to see everyone looking so happy & comfortable in their finery too.
I find it really difficult to choose a favourite as they all made me smile, every last one!
Such a gorgeous bride too, I love the angle/crop of the first pic of her by herself.
Those sari pics... ooh to die for!
Id love to do a session with an Asian bride.
Photography aside, the only thing that kills her look for me is her nails ..sorry its my job to notice these things :p
They were soo crying out for a few rhinestones and bit of ornate gold painting, ooh Id love to do that!
Ahem, back on topic ...Im sure the couple will be absolutely delighted with these pics, I know I would be!

Can't add much more other than to say splendid job and they will be thrilled. That sari is to die for and what a beautiful bride you capture so well.
Very impressive. Great shots. The film is indeed Ressy Dogs and your capture is excellent due to the instant reminder you get of it :)
Damn, you're good at this
:agree:
Liking these alot Colin. The Reservior of dogs shots is brilliant. I thought it was staged until I read your notes. Great capture.
The Gary Fong LS works brilliant on one gun - I can feel a purchase coming along for Kerso for one. Was it the clear or clouded version you used.
Are you advertising for your weddings or are you getting them via word of mouth. What sort of packages are you offering. I have been asked to do one at the end of August and have completely bottled out!
I laughed when you said the bride went away for an hour and a half to get changed - she must be related to my wife :whistling:
