Not in any particular order - just a collection of the picturesque and unusual things I saw.
Although in Belgium it is very Dutch. First sight of Bruges 'the station vehicle park' though there was more than one!

We sat in the park and found ourselves surrounded by a well behaved school party. They did not go any closer.

Once they had gone I did though! Fence thing was a pain but I think it gave the birds the confidence to stay put.

Lots of floodlit buildings. Be rude not to have a go even if you don't have a tripod.

Hello? what? yes... I'm in a civic hall building. Well OK they are audioguides but they kinda look like phones!

One of the stranger things - these guys were making rope patterns and taking it in turns to be in the middle and tied up!

Fantastic - and they bring back so many memories. Bruges was my long time favourite European city until about 6 yrs ago when they had the dual problem of dodgy sewers and mosquitos.
Did it smell sweet for you?
There was the odd whiff as you walk round :)
Fortunately nothing overpowering!
I love Bruges. It has something almost magical about it.. flemish, barok and venician in one place.
Cute fluffy duck :baby: shots ... awww
Some lovely shots there, Robert.
I particularly like the nightime buildings, the chocolate shop (I wonder why!) and the waterways.
Thanks for sharing, glad you had a good time.

Nice shots Rob! Particularly like the bike/canal and tulip shots! Night stuff and interiors are good too.
Did they get paid for their tying up ritual - if so it'd be money for old rope :bonk:
Some great captures there, and brings back some great memories. Bruges is a lovely place and I'd highly recommend it, probably tied in with a trip to Brussels...
Nice work Robert. I really like that church interior, and of course the lone duckling shot is a belter.
Thanks for the comments. This was my first proper outing with the 24-105 IS (and no other lenses). At first I missed the extra width of the 17-40L but it didn't take long to get used to it. The IS works really well and you have to remind yourself there are limits to what it can do - I have a few nice sharp stabilised backgrounds with blurry subjects due to movement. :)
That lens would fill the little gap in my lens range a treat! ;)
Too much gear out there and not enough wonga! :D
Hmmm! a lot of them look a bit dark on my monitor but as no-one else has commented on that, I guess it must be my end!
I love the 2nd floodlit building and the lone quacker is just too cute!
I'm still not confident about brightness etc with this new monitor. Looking at them here they seem higher contrast and hence a touch darker looking than I remember from processing them

Nice Pics Robert. Have often thought about a trip to Bruge.....glad you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing the photos.
Not dark on my monitor except maybe the first two, but they have a lot of shadow in anyway.
I think the floodlit shots are great, thanks for sharing.
One from Jills camera....
Caught in the act
Does my (builders?) bum look big in this?

Nice shots ... like the floodlit buildings ones and the chicks are always good for a picture!!!!
Just recalled a trip me and the missus had to Bruges a few years ago ...
We went into the restaurant pictured (is that the one hidden back in a little square?). Anyway, we had a very romantic candle lit meal - with plenty of Leffe to drink.
All was going well until after the meal when i stood up to leave, realised I was absolutely trollyed, fell over and smashed nearly all the plates we had used!!!!
Luckily the waitresses found it hilarious and the only real damage was my pride!! Oh, and a big dent in my wallet!!!!
Happy days!!!!
Back to the shots though - good effort, keep 'em coming!!!!

Well coming back from a short break away with dirty knees, says something about a man! ;) :D
Really liked that. Dinae worry about dirty knees unless you wear a kilt!

We ate in there too (Mozarthaus) - Flemish beef stew .... with chips! Oh and we sat near the fireplace (no fire needed).
