View Full Version : Thinking of upgrading...

...from a Lowepro Slingshot 100 to a Slingshot 200 :D

I bought the 100 to go with my Nikon D50 and kit lenses but since then have added two more lenses, a flash and a multitude of other odds and sods. A recent purchase of an Optech Pro camera strap seems to be the straw that's broken the camel's back and it's something of a squeeze to fit everything in without fear of damaging the camera.

So, whilst in Meadowhell this evening I went into Jessops and copped a feel of the 200 and even though the internal measurements (according to Lowepro) aren't hugely different there's substantially more room - especially for accessories and the Optech strap.

So, do I buy a 200 and sell the as-new 100 or do I just go for a Sliplock lens case and re-jig the layout? :help:

I've got the same issue with my Slingshot 100... can't fit the 100-400 lens in there at all! Had a look at the Slingshot 300 last night - that's one big b*tch!

Just a thought, but if you think your kit list will continue to grow you might want to consider the Tamrac Expedition 5 (http://www.tamrac.com/ExpeditionBackpacks.htm). I've just upgraded from a Slingshot 200 to it and I'm really impressed. Its a bit bigger than the Slingshot but it's very comfortable to wear and has a real quality feel to it. It's not actually that much more money that the Slingshot 200 either. I paid £69.95 inc delivery for mine from Morris Photo (http://www.morrisphoto.co.uk/ProductDetails~productID~4865~categoryid~.html)

Thanks for the replies guys - I ordered the 200...

...then I saw the bargain 300 at Jessops (for pennies more than the 200 at Amazon) and ordered that instead

Hi Matt
Does the 300 bag comfortably take a body with the 100-400 fitted to it?
Thanks

takes my 30d + grip with the 100-400 on it no problems at all. Theres a bit of room at the bottom too if I remember correctly.

Excellent, thank you!

It's on my wishlist... would have been ordered if they hadnt just bumped the price up!

Well my Slingshot 300 arrived today (I say arrived - I had to go to the CityLink depot to collect it as once again they picked the twenty minutes in the day when nobody was in the house!)

I can't get over how big it is... and the bag's quite large too!

Later, once I've managed to retrieve my wife (she fell in whilst taking a look at it and I'm following the little 'help' noises to locate her) I'll cram my kit in it and take some photos.
