Hi all...first proper post on these forums. I've been going through some of my recent photos from Florence and Venice and thought I'd share this one from Venice...

Let me know what you think, good or bad about the post processing. More to follow when I get time.

For me, I like this very much, the processing works well (what did you do)
It would make a very nice print or even a card/postcard of some sort?

what did you do

Errrm good question. I've been going through so many I can't remember exactly. I think I layered an overexposed with an underexposed B&W version and deleted bits to make sure it was all exposed correctly. Then put an oversaturated version underneath the merged B&W version and changed opacity to get this. There may have been HDR involved at some point but I don't think so.

Hmmm! Nice - got a slightly surreal feel to it! I like it! What lens did you use?

Sorry ranarama but I don't like it, the rowing boats in the foreground make me feel uncomfortable, almostlike they are floating due to the HDr I think. without them there I would of prefered it, or maybe if the HDR wasn't so apparant on them to make them seem floating in the air.

I actually do like it, but cwinhall does have a point - it is indeed like they are levitating.

Thought I'd drag this one back rather than start a new one. Just a few extras to chuck into the mix but with a bit less processing than the first...

Hey, I really like the London pics on your site - they're a really good - different - angle on an all too familiar subject

Fine photos.
Very interesting color balance of the first photo.
Looks like something magic :)
Frankly speaking, I have never been in Venice.

Thanks for sharing ... some lovely images bringing back some great memories for me!

I too took a pic of the metal head??? (whatever its called) on the gondola but I filled the whole frame & it didnt come out as good as yours!
After seeing your pics though, I might have another run through my own, have a play and see what I can salvage!

Any more?

Thanks for the comments everyone.

InaGlo, there's lots more but I thought posting 120 odd photos was a bit excessive;) .

The others are on my website (http://www.neilsampson.com/photography/italy/index.html)

I like the first one, and the way the godolas are floating is..... exactly how they look in rl so never took anything away from the pic for me. Looked on your website and you've got some awesome pics on there which took me back to my visit. I've only been the once and loved it, really wanting to go back as I only had a ****ty compact then.
