This scene is another one from this week's trip to Whitby - this time the shot was taken from quite a way up (yesterday's shot was taken from the side of the harbour itself). This one was taken from the left hand side of the harbour, not far away from the whale bones at the top of the hill.

The only cosmetic change I've made was to clone out a seagull that was too small to be of any use to the picture in the middle of the sea. Other than that, levels, curves, boosted saturation using a saturation adjustment layer (thanks DF :D)sharpen using high pass.

I was in two minds whether to crop out the foliage from the bottom of the picture but decided as annoying as I find it, the picture doesn't work with any cropping. (in my opinion anyway).

You can see the abbey ruins to the left of the picture and Bridge street to the right.

Shot in manual at f/8 with a shutter speed of 1/200 at ISO-100.

I love all those buildings on the hillside. Very nice position you took this from, Matt.

Thanks for the comments everyone :)

Tomorrow's shot is going to be late up, only just finished sorting things out - really should have planned to be home a little earlier than we did. Oh well. Not to worry.

Nice shot. That buoy (sp?) is a bit distracting ***.

Not bad at all, but lose the bottom 1/4 of house roofs and it gets better still
