Technically my dad should be posting this shot, as he took it, in 1981.

But seeing as he died in 1997, I suppose that'll be quite hard, so I'll have to post it for him ;)

Taken in 1981ish, on a trip out. Just scanned it in tonight (Looking to make some new avatars of photos of me :D)

Why am I putting it in here? I have no idea.:D Critique and comment if you like :D

I think every kid in the 80's must of had one of those coats, mine was navy though.

I only had one, first I had the "you'll grow into it" then later on I got the "you ruined it, it'll have to last...." generally followed by a b*****king for tearing it.

You should have worn a Parka then...That would have warmed it up a bit :D

You actually look like the "adult you", there, Marcel. Strange how neither of those looks like your avatar!

It does, of course, depend on how old we were when parkas like that were in vogue for kids as to whether we had one or not! :D

I was 22 and I really dont think it wouldve done much for my image going up to London on the tube every day to work! :D

That'll be the Gene Genie in me, love. Now be a good girl and go detect me a nice scotch :D

Seriously though, youre actually right. Looking at this shot taken of me last year, I can really see the similarities, where I can't with most of my 'younger years' photos.

I remember when wearing a green parker was the symbol of a "Mod"...and that was a very long time before '81 ;) Blimey, I was 27 then....:(

I was born in 81 too :D

We should have a kids of 81 group.

I didn't have a parka......or at least I don't think I did, I'd have to check with the parents.

I was born in 81, I didn't have a parka, but I did live in australia, not much use for a parka there.

I didn't have a parka, wasn't allowed one, (was only 12 in 1983) so I had to chat up the cute guy in the year above me and wear his at lunchtimes :D it was a green one, full Mod stuff all over it, and he was very cute! ....... gone quiet now while i go all dreamy.......
