A few questions...

EDIT - GOT LENS 1) I want to buy a 50mm F1.8 (Nikkor). What is likely the cheapest I will find this for? £80 seems to be the best I can see at the moment.

2) 2GB SanDisk UltraII/ExtremeIII - £16.99/£17.99 respectively at Play.com, is that about the cheapest i'm likely to find either of those?

3) An Umbrella, This is my real problem, as I know nothing about them.

I want one for my flash for portrait use though to be honest I don't know if an umbrella is really what i'm looking for, or if a softbox is a more appropriate item? Or even just something like a Stofen diffuser?

Either way, I'd like a bit of info on exactly what I would need for just a basic umbrella/softbox set up that will work with my SB-600, how much I would be looking to pay etc.

Any help greatly appreciated guys :)

2. Yes.
3. Your cheapest, simplest bet for nice lighting, imho, is the Gary Fong Lightsphere 2. I love it. I've done all sorts of portraits with it and it always produces lovely light with great catchlights.

1. Pretty much, yes

2. Pretty much, yes. Although I always use www.picstop.co.uk. I think you would get it quicker from them than Play.

Well, methinks I'll be ordering the 50mm and the Memory tonight, still not sure about the lighting situation so we'll ponder that one a bit more...

Right, Lens is now in my possession, however before I got round to ordering my memory card, Play increased the price from £17.99 to £22.99, and picstop.co.uk sell it at £24.70...

Anywhere I might find it that cheap again, or should I just go for the Ultra II at £16.99?

They read and write faster which is very helpful for extended bursts.

I received my cards pretty quickly from play.
Ordered Friday, received Tuesday, pretty quick taking into account the bank holiday.

just done a quick test

at 1600 shutter speed, i got 15 shots off in 5 seconds, and then it took abotu the same again for the little green mem card access light to flash (whihc it did for another 2 seconds)

I dont knwo if that is good bad or ugly, but seems ok to me
