View Full Version : Website Re-Vamp
Good evening all. I have finally taken the plunge and redesigned my website into something cleaner and easier on the eye [I hope].
It is still very much a work in progress, mainly just to have somewhere useful to put my pics. I am still not sure the feature images on index page and in the side bar are the ones I will stick with, and I also know not all the images in the gallery are brilliant shots. This is more a case of practising in the hope that one day they will be good enough to make a few pennies, but it doesn't matter if they don't, I just love taking pictures.
C&C's welcome, as well as any advice from webby design gurus! :D
Well, here goes....
WGI Website (http://www.whitegoldimages.co.uk)
Nice clean site - the front page needs to have a title on it - its untitled
<TITLE>Title goes here</TITLE>
oops, thanks for that Hades - will attend to it now!
looks nice and clean to me too easy to navigate & quick to load

Ditto the above comment.
Not sure there is a need for the front page.. it just adds an extra click to get to your photos.
Well done!

:agree:
I agree lose the front page, it serves no purpose. You keep the theme nicely until you enter the gallery proper then it changes, I think if you could either make the site match the gallery or the gallery match the site it would be a stunner.
Thanks for comments guys, appreciated and will look at possibly losing the first page.
I chose to have a front page as an attention grabber, its the only page with a full image before the galleries, but maybe its not needed.
As for the gallery pages, I agree with you Steep. I spent lots of time doing this >> The main site is based on a Web Expression Template that I have adapted to my own purpose, whereas the galleries are straight from photoshop, then with the navigation and headers added afterwards in WE. Unfortunately I am pretty much self taught on both programs, [and still very much learning]so spent some time trying to get the gallery pages to run within the default page template, but with no joy, so opted instead to maintain the colour scheme as a stop gap until I have worked it out. Like I say, it's a work in progress, so I will get there in the end, I hope!
Now then, another question. The side bar image. Keep a monochrome, or go for something more colourful? I opted for that pic to begin with because of its simplicity, but I am wondering whether to go for something else, just don't know  ;)
