Well in another thread last week Tim hinted that he had another piece of kit coming to stick atop his new Gitzo tripod and that it would be arriving this week. He was a bit coy as to what it was though. Hence the interest. :D
Did Tim find an oil well or something?

He's already got a 600mm what more does he want!! And tim you know I'm always willing to help you clean up the clutter (read lenses).

He's got a 500mm actually, but I wouldn't be in the least surprised if it was a 600mm on it's way. ;)

oops! You're right. I would put my money on the 600mm it would be great for the horse racing stuff he does.

Your daughter wins hands down, but unlike the MkIII I'm guessing she's not a saleable comodity :nono:
Seems like the new toy is working too.
Ill agree with that (seeing as you did ask), your daughter does win hands down.
Must get the looks from her mother  :D
How are you finding the new toy so far?

Well its too early to make any comments as yet mate but as you know Iv'e had the 1DMkII for the last 2 years so I have no learning to do regarding the operation of the camera..:)
I was going to go down the 1DMkIII route when it came available but really couldnt justify the £1k plus added just to get the MkII upgrade so thought about it for a while and took the full frame route with double the Megapixels.;)

Cheeky pose!
And the daughter wins hands down IMO - WOW!
Nice Camera too BTW.
:)
Nice. Oh and the camera.
You will find a big difference in the RAW files which come out of it, they stand / take a lot more sharpening than the 1D files.
If you haven't already got it take a look at Capture One pro (3.7.7), it does a better job than ACR, on the files for the conversion, nicer tones and more detail in the image.
Your gonna love it.

Sold it private for cash almost a month ago..
Found a guy who was looking for one so I thought BINGO!!!..:D Upgrade time.:)
Havent said nothing on here but had all these expensive lenses here and no camera to put them on for the last month..
Sensible really Tim. I don't see the 1D Mk3 as much of an upgrade from the Mk2.

Sensible really Tim. I don't see the 1D Mk3 as much of an upgrade from the Mk2.I think the it is a lot bigger upgrade than the mk2 -mk2N, A lot of people upgraded from the mk2 to the N model and I realy cant see why?

Got to agree with you... the new 1d mk3 looks to be a great camera but my N is the best camera I have ever owned by a country mile, and I dont see a 'Quantum Leap' with the new model
You bought yourself one helluva camera there Tim

Ooooooooh! what a lovely bit of kit - drooooool!:woot: :woot: :woot:
Question: what the heck is that contraption the camera is sitting on and what does it do?
Nice one Tim.
Another tip. Try to avoid high ISO's and get the exposure spot on to avoid excessive noise.

The contraption its on is a Gimbal head, used for long lenses, allows free moving motion of the lens for panning etc etc

And Ian's got a head just like it. :D:lol::D:lol::D:lol:
