Film negatives...

Hi all,

I've been thinking about investing in a super-cheap film setup for a specific project I have in mind.

Basically all I want are the processed negatives, no prints at all... is there anywhere that would be willing to do that - failing that do you still even get copies of the negatives when getting film processed?!

Secondly, I would want a camera capable of both macro and landscape work... would a second hand film SLR and a couple of lenses be my best bet? - I'm guessing my current lenses (in sig) wouldn't be any use?

Or is there something else worth looking at? I literally know nothing about non-digital photography, as you can probably tell!

Hello Tom, seeing as you are in cornwall I have a couple of pentax bodies, me super and k1000 and several lenses, sadly not a true macro one though. You are quite welcome to borrow these if it's only for a short project.

As far as I know, most chemists offer a negatve only deal, well they used to :)

I think Colab still do process only...without being cut into strips

It may even be worth investing in one of those developing bags / tank things and doing it yourself. Not hard to do providing you ensure total darkness!!!

Slide film. Very easy to develop at home too with the minimum of hassle as long as you get film suitable for E6 processing. Jessops et al will have E6 developing kits. Then you just need a developing tank and a thermometer.

Measuring beakers etc usually come with the E6 kits.

i would imaging any high street lab would do dev only for a few quid per film. cant se any reason why they wouldnt do it, just go in and ask.
