I know, it's no big deal, but this is the first shot I've taken through the telescope using the T adaptor set I bought from David Hinds and I think it turned out quite well. Image is about 50% size to keep within the forum guidelines.
Canon Rebel, 1/40sec, iso100, mirror lock up on 6 seconds to try and cut vibration, telescope = cheap 70mm refractor.

Very cool! If you could just get up there there'a gold plated Hasselblad lying around somewhere. It might need a bit of a clean up by now though. :lol:
Very nice :) Would it be possible to get a shot that clear with a high end telephoto lens? How much is the telescope adapter? Looks very crisp at the bottom of the moon.
I reckon the telescope is somewhere about the 600mm equivalent? here's a sample of shots from my 300mm at 300mm and the scope.
The adaptors were just under £30 for the pair (one to fit the camera, one to fit the scope) which is really one thing but in two parts.
Certainly a better scope would give better results.

EXCELLENT first attempt with a scope, mate... Love the detail on the terminator!!! 8)
Just for a quick reference... you were shooting through a 70mm scope with a 600mm FL. I shot this with a 150mm scope(6 inches) @ 2700mm FL (900mm with a 3X Barlow Lens)
If you can... try & find a nice cheap 2X Barlow & REALLY "float" over the surface of the moon.

PS-the resolution in this image for scale is as follows... if you look at the crater to the upper left of the frame that has 2 craterlets inside of it, the smaller one is measured at 20km wide according to Ruks Moon Atlas.

IF you plan on shooting a full moon... I HIGHLY recommend using some sort of filter as a full moon in ANY scope or large telephoto lens, is almost blinding!!! Plus the fact that ALOT of the detail is washed out due to its VERY high surface brightness. Better to shoot the Phases for craters & such.

Aeryk01, I've got a couple of Barlow lenses but the T adapter won't fit with either of them in place (it actually fits into the 'socket' that the barlow lens would go into, do you think I'm missing something?
My best guess is that the Barlow lens is a different size than your focuser on your scope. Let me ask you this... Does the Barlow insert cleanly into your scope focuser? Does your T-Adapter do the same?... IF both of these slide nicely into your scope focuser, you should be all set. Because then you're Barlow goes into your scope focuser & the T-Adapter goes into the Barlow.
Also, are you using a T-RING & a T-Adapter or just one or the other?
Most Barlows come in 1 of 3 sizes... .965 inches dia. - 1.25 inches dia. - & 2 inches dia.
T-Adapters USUALLY only come in 1.25" and this needs to match your focuser on your scope.

Scratch that I think I've found out how to fit one (inside the T adaptor) awful image quality though.
