Hi all

Currently, I'm using a slow old card reader to get my raw files off my CF cards... it's painful so I need to upgrade. I have USB2 on my laptop, so is this sort of card the best option, or firewire? Can anyone recommend one?

Thanks

Weggy - I was in the same boat recently & bought a Sandisk USB2 CF card reader & its faster than Ben Johnson chasing his steroid supplier :exit:

Cool.

Don't suppose you use 4gb CF cards by any chance? How long does it take to upload a full one?

Thanks

I use the Sandisk Extreme Firewire, faster than USB but you do need the cards that are fast ie Extreme 4 or it will just go as fast as the card you are using.

Take a look at the Sandisk USB 2 version as its supposed to be fast and only approx £10

Weggy - Never really filled a 4gb card tbh but compared to my old USB reader the USB2 is at least 10 times faster & transfers around a couple of gb in just over a minute - Paul ;)

That's the one - best price when I got mine was here but worth googling yourself : http://www.mymemory.co.uk/memory/SanDisk/USB2.0/CompactFlash/Card/Reader

Another vote for that from me, using Extreme 3 cards it transfers a D2x RAW file in just shy of a second. Quick enough that you can start viewing your images straight away and thats quick enough for me :D
