You'll just have to stop buying expensive lenses and use a point and shoot instead. ;)

But I couldn't resist another trip to Kenya and I only came back May 1st. So keep your eye out the next few weeks for ye olde world film shots of East Africa. :D

Definitely the zebra for me - lovely shot.

Mind you, being a Geordie, I like things in black & white stripes!!!

Reckon Big Sam / Terry Mac / Sven* (* delete as appropriate) will sign the zebra to replace the donkies we currently have?

Cracking shots mate - cheers.

Samburu again, where we also met some old friends, and then back to the Masai Mara.

More details in the thread to come when I've finished scanning the ruddy things!

Tail end of it for sure.

Although the weather has been a bit wacked out over there since November so nothing is guaranteed.

But let ME know when and where you are going and I'll make sure my girlfriend books the same week so I can take the mick out of the newlyweds. :p ;)

And this comment from Ian (thank You :)) gives me the chance to have a mini rant about all the people who were there in April moaning about not seeing big game all over the place! Like there aren't any other animals there. Or maybe open your eyes and see the 100 different species of bird in the camp alone! :bang:

Let me tell you. Lions are bl'#dy boring most of the time. Sleep, eat, yawn and crap. Yes, it's great to see them hunt (if you are very lucky), and the cubs are cute, but Hyaenas are twenty times more interesting on any given day.

AAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!:bang:

Rant brought to you by the "Give Hyaenas a Chance Support Group". Thank you for listening. ;)

I don't know if I'm breaking a forum rule here but I just have to make a point that if you are going to go on a safari holiday to South Africa (most likely you will be going to Kruger National Park for these shots) I have to put forward my Uncle's safari lodge (2 uncles actually from either side of my family).

Visit the website at www.bushwisesafaris.com and if you are genuinly interested let me know and we can see if I can get you a discount!

Agree during the day Lions can be sooooo boring, but the big cats are what draw in the tourists.

Some of our most memorable sightings have been with Hyena's including finding one in the tent asleep on the bed

True, but I was reading the other day that the Masai Mara is getting a little oversubscribed. Especially in the areas where the dreaded Nissan mini-vans can get to. Unfortunately, full with many people with a tick list and on a 3 day whistlestop tour of Africa's parks and reserves. They're not interested in the wildlife as such, they just want to say they saw the big five. And as one of the last great wildernesses on Earth where animals like that can survive, I think it deserves a little better treatment. It takes a few hours to get our driver to realise we're a bit more interested than that. Not that the bl*'dy great cameras and animal books I carry aren't a clue. ;)

But on a lighter note, I'd quite like to share my bed with all sorts but I can safely say a Hyaena is not anywhere on that list! Er.. What happened next then Notch?

And keep up the good work as well. Not surprised you didn't make it to Namibia. The prices are a little higher are they not? :D

You remind me of my other uncle (not to do with the safari camp) who is a photographer and a safari guide. When he took other photographers on guided tours he used to get so angry that all they wanted to photograph were the cliched animals...

Colin, should I be worried whether that's a good or a bad thing?

It's a good thing.. I completely agree with him and you. Although one of my favourite shots of his is a black and white version of Zebra's stampeding on a dust path, it's brill. I've always wanted to go back and try and get a shot like that!

When I do go back I think I'm going to need a 100gb storage drive with me becuase I will take a picture of everything!
